Mike Cresswell J.P. LLB M.A.
Mike spent 30 years as a lawyer in local government, much of that time as a senior solicitor. He has extensive experience as an advocate in magistrates’ courts as well as other tribunals. He knows what its like to be a witness and court legal adviser. As a magistrate with a legal background, having frequently chaired courts, he is well placed to know the techniques that make local authority personnel more effective in their appearances before magistrates.
A former chairman of the Lord Chancellor’s advisory committee on JPs, he is now a member of the Lord Chief Justice’s and Lord Chancellor’s review bodies on the conduct of magistrates. He is also a mentor and appraiser of magistrates.
